Man hacks baby monitor, screams at child

A stranger in the US has hacked into a baby's wireless video monitor in the middle of the night, terrifying her parents by shouting "Wake up baby".

A US couple had the shock of their lives when the discovered a hacker had taken over their baby's wireless video monitor in the middle of the night and watched her sleep.

Adam and Heather Schreck from Cincinnati, Ohio, were woken in the early hours by a man's voice screaming "Wake up baby", coming from a monitor linking to the room of their 10-month-old daughter Emma.

"All of a sudden, I heard what sounded like a man's voice but I was asleep so I wasn't sure," Heather told local TV network Fox19 last week.

When Heather picked up her mobile phone to check the camera in her daughter's room, she said the camera was moving - but she wasn't the one moving it.

"About the time I saw it moving, I also heard a voice again start screaming at my daughter.

"He was screaming, `Wake up baby. Wake up baby', then just screaming at her trying to wake her up."

Her husband Adam rushed to Emma's room, where he said the camera also shouted at him.

"Some bad things, some obscenities," he said.

The couple unplugged the camera.
