A man arrested after two shootings in southeast Queensland will remain behind bars.

Graham Errol Hayes, 28, was remanded in custody after a brief appearance in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He did not apply for bail.

Hayes was arrested on Tuesday night after he was allegedly found with a sawn-off shotgun which police believe was fired at a man at a Clayfield shopping complex earlier in the day.

He was allegedly caught driving a car belonging to a family member of the 30-year-old victim.

Police said the shooting was a targeted assault and the victim and his attacker knew each other.

They were seen arguing outside the shopping centre just before shots were fired.

Officers are investigating whether the same sawn-off shotgun was used earlier that day to shoot a 29-year-old man in the legs and buttocks at Kallangur, just north of Brisbane.

The victims in both attacks were taken to hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

Hayes hasn't been charged with either shooting.

He's charged with possessing the shotgun, ammunition and a knife, and with stealing and receiving tainted property.

His case is due to return to court on November 11.
