Man in court over fatal Sydney stabbing

A man charged with murdering a Sydney father in a stabbing attack will remain behind bars after appearing in court.

A man accused of murder over the fatal stabbing of a western Sydney father has faced court.

Brandon Jenkins, 21, did not apply for bail at Blacktown Local Court on Friday and it was formally refused.

Jenkins, who was dressed in a navy jumper and sported a rat's-tail hairstyle, sat quietly in the dock during his brief appearance.

He is accused of stabbing Doonside man Cheyne Duncan, 33, on Wednesday afternoon.

Duncan died in Westmead Hospital after the attack on a Doonside footpath.

The matter returns to Penrith Local Court in November.
