A man accused of murdering a father-of-three whose body was found in a burnt out house in southeast Queensland has been remanded in custody.

Police allege Jason Binney killed Mark Wilkes, 45, before torching the home in the Darling Downs town of Dalby on January 20.

The 43-year-old's case was briefly mentioned in the Dalby Magistrates Court on Monday where the matter was adjourned until May 24.

Binney was charged with murder, arson and burglary last Friday.
