Man interviewed after fatal Vic crash

Victorian police are interviewing a 27-year-old man after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Geelong early on Saturday morning.

A man is being interviewed by Victorian police after a fatal hit-and-run.

A 32-year-old man was discovered with life-threatening injuries in Yarra Street, near the intersection of Verner Street, in Geelong about 3.15am on Saturday.

It is understood the victim, from South Geelong, was struck by a vehicle that stopped at the scene but then drove off.

Police earlier said they were looking for the driver of a white Mercedes Vito van, fitted with roof racks.

A 27-year-old man, from the Geelong suburb of Lovely Banks, attended a police station on Saturday evening and is assisting officers with their inquiries.

No charges have yet been laid.

In a separate incident on Friday night, a male pedestrian was killed at Lang Lang, southeast of Melbourne.

Police believe the man, who has yet to be identified, was struck while walking on the South Gippsland Highway near the intersection of Caldermeade Road about 10.30pm.

The 22-year-old male driver of the car, who stopped at the scene, is assisting police with their inquiries.
