Man killed, 4 hurt in Swiss balloon crash

A hot air balloon crash in western Switzerland has killed a US tourist and left four people with life-threatening injuries, police say.

A US tourist has been killed and four people have suffered life-threatening injuries as their hot air balloon crashed, Swiss police say.

The hot air balloon carrying the man, his wife, their two daughters and a Swiss pilot was about to land in Montbovon, in western Switzerland, when it touched a high-voltage power line.

The balloon plunged to the ground some 40 metres below.

Rescue workers tried to resuscitate the tourist, but he died at the accident site.
