Man leans out of UK train window and dies

A man's death after he leaned out of a train window and was struck by another train in south London is not being treated as suspicious.

A man in his 20s has died after he leaned out of a train window and was struck by another engine in south London.

The Gatwick Express passenger was pronounced dead at the scene at Wandsworth Common station on Sunday.

Police were called at 5.30pm (local time) after reports a man had suffered a serious head injury while travelling on a train between Balham and Wandsworth.

"Our investigation remains at an early stage, but initial enquiries suggest the man may have been leaning out of a train door window when he suffered a blow to the head," a police spokeswoman said.

Social media reports said the man's head was decapitated, but police said this was not the case.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has been notified and is investigating.

The incident was not being treated as suspicious.
