A man who sparked searches of a flooded Queensland river has been found safe and well - at home.

The 22-year-old was seen by a member of the public entering the swollen Leichhardt River at the Twenty Third Avenue crossing at Happy Valley on Friday night.

But grave fears for his safety were soothed shortly before 9am (AEST) on Sunday when the Mount Isa local was found at his home, having simply gone for an ill-timed dip before getting out.
