A man rescued from the surf at Sydney's Bondi Beach remains in a critical condition in hospital after going into cardiac arrest.
The man, believed to be aged in his 60s, was pulled from the water by lifeguards who performed CPR on him after he was spotted in distress on Monday afternoon.
He was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition but stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman told AAP on Tuesday.
Initial reports suggest the man may have gone into cardiac arrest in the water, an Ambulance NSW spokeswoman said.
The Bondi incident comes after four people died on NSW beaches in the past two weeks.
