Paramedics were called to the scene about 10.50am (AEST) on Monday, with the first of three ambulance crews arriving within three minutes, Ambulance Victoria spokesman Paul Bentley said.

The shooting occurred at Techno Park Drive in the Williamstown Industrial Park in Williamstown North.

"When police declared the area safe they (the paramedics) moved in and it was confirmed that a man had died," he told AAP.

The dead man is believed to have been aged in his 30s.
