Man stabbed in Newcastle

A man has been stabbed and another arrested in the Newcastle suburb of Stockton.

A 66-year-old man has been stabbed multiple times at a home in the NSW Hunter region.

Police were called to a house in the Newcastle suburb of Stockton about 8am (AEDT) on Wednesday to find the stabbed man.

He was treated by paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police say officers arrested a 67-year-old man in Stockton a short time later and he is helping with inquiries.
