A man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing another man in South Australia.

The man was stabbed in the chest at a Burton home about 8pm on New Year's Eve and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police say.

A Burton man, 30, who is known to the alleged victim, faces a charge of aggravated assault causing serious harm and will likely front court on Monday.
