Man to face court over drink driving crash

A NSW man accused of drink driving and leaving a woman in a critical condition after his ute allegedly collided with her scooter is due to face court.

A NSW man accused of leaving a woman in a critical condition after he allegedly crashed into her scooter while driving drunk is due to appear in court.

Police say the 37-year-old was driving his ute in Toronto, Lake Macquarie at about 7pm on September 5 when it collided with the 23-year-old woman's scooter.

The woman was taken to hospital in a critical condition while the man allegedly recorded a positive blood alcohol reading and police say they found cannabis on him.

The Kilaben Bay man will appear at Toronto Local Court on Wednesday charged with dangerous and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, mid-range drink driving and possessing a prohibited drug.
