Manchester United's push for a top-four finish continued on Sunday with a comfortable 2-0 win at Burnley.

Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney scored as United extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 23 games.

The win pulls them within a point of fourth-place Manchester City in the final Champions League qualifying spot ahead of their meeting on Thursday.

A devastating counter-attack from a Burnley free-kick gave United the lead in the 21st minute.

Martial broke out on a long run from deep inside his own end and played a ball to Ander Herrera before flicking the return pass past keeper Tom Heaton.

The visitors doubled their lead before half-time as Heaton came off his line to block Martial's shot and the ball fell to Rooney, who marked his first start since March 4 by scuffing it home from close range.

Burnley have won just once in their last 11 league games and remain five points clear of the relegation places in 15th.

Liverpool host Crystal Palace in Sunday's other match.
