Timothy Williams, 26, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery with wounding on Thursday, and admitted that he worked with Jamie Lee Haynes, 28, to assault and rob the Eritrean refugee last October.
Haynes, who acted as a lookout, was sentenced today and has been jailed for two and half years. She will serve a minimum of 15 months in jail before being released on bail in 2015.
The victim, Tumezgi Tesfay, had only arrived in Australia five days ago when he was attacked, losing a tooth and needing stitches to his left ear, the Illawarra Mercury reported.
NSW Police released CCTV footage of the attack.
"A viewing of this footage is all that is needed to make an accurate assessment of the objective seriousness of this offence," said judge Paul Conlon, who handed down Williams' judgement on Thursday at Wollongong District Court.

"It is clear that when the offenders reached the station pedestrian walkway they were waiting for a victim," he said.
"When the victim was stopped, it was also clear that there was a plan of action.
"This footage serves to demonstrate the lie to any suggestion that the victim in anyway provoked this altercation."
Williams has been given a six year non-parole period and will be eligible for parole in 2019.
