Man winched to safety from rock ledge

A helicopter has been used to rescue man who was stuck on a rock ledge overnight on Sydney's northern beaches.

A man has been winched to safety by a rescue helicopter after spending a harrowing night trapped on a rock ledge on Sydney's northern beaches.

The 37-year old was found on the rock ledge in North Curl Curl at about 7am (AEDT) on Tuesday.

Police had been searching for him after the alarm was raised when he failed to return from a walk on Monday.

The Westpac Lifesaver helicopter was used to winch the man to safety, police said.
