Manhunt for Melb driver after cyclist dies

A cyclist has died after being hit by a pickup truck, with police now searching for the driver seen running off and jumping over a fence.

A cyclist has been killed and a driver is on the run after a crash in Melbourne.

A Footscray man, 54, died on Barkly Street in West Footscray after being hit by a Holden Rodeo while riding his bike on Thursday afternoon.

Police are searching for the driver who is described as about 182cm tall, of solid build and wearing bone-coloured overalls, a black t-shirt, black long-sleeved top and white sneakers.

He was last seen parking the car on Argyle Street then running off and jumping a fence in Essex Street.
