Daly Cherry-Evans' five-star performance in Manly's breakthrough win over North Queensland needs to happen every week, according to a number of his NRL teammates.
Cherry-Evans enjoyed arguably his best game in over a year when he led the Sea Eagles to their first win of the year in their last-start victory in Townsville.
"We need him firing like he did on the weekend, talking, directing our forwards around," Sea Eagles fullback Tom Trbojevic said on Wednesday.
"He's been good the first few weeks but on the weekend, showed his class.
"He was really dominant and that's something for us to be successful, we need him and he knows that.
"This weekend, he'll put on another good performance."
Five-eighth Blake Green pointed out that the Cowboys fixture was the first time this season the Sea Eagles had enjoyed more than half the possession in the match.
He said when they had the ball in good field position, their attack has delivered.
"That's what we need from him. He's a big part of our team," Green said.
"I think the more that Daly and I can touch the footy for our team moving forward, the better we'll be.
"I thought he kicked the ball really well on the weekend, which was nice.
"And he come up with a big play, that 40-20 that just turned the momentum.
"We had a great share of the footy (unlike) our previous two games but when we've had it, we've been fairly effective.
"We just need to try and limit our errors and penalties."
Green, who spent the past two seasons alongside incumbent Kangaroos halfback Cooper Cronk at Melbourne, said it was vital the rest of the Sea Eagles' spine provide the impetus for Cherry-Evans.
"It's our job as a spine to make sure that we play with a lot of energy with the footy," Green said.
"When we're energetic like that, Daly can bounce off us.
"We get the right field position and put him in a position to execute plays. That's the main thing."
Manly take on the Bulldogs, who also claimed their first win of the season last week, bolstered by the return of big boppers Martin Taupau and Addin Fonua-Blake for Saturday's game at Lottoland.
Green said it is a huge boost after playing the past fortnight without a prop on the bench.
"He's a pretty aggressive player, Marty," Green said.
"He was outstanding for us in our first game, he was really aggressive.
"Looking forward to having him and Addin back."
