Man's body found off Port of Brisbane

Police have found a man's body hours after his empty dinghy was found at the mouth of the Brisbane River.

A body has been found after a man disappeared in the waters off the Port of Brisbane.

Witnesses say they saw the man in a dinghy travelling out of the mouth of the Brisbane River about 11:30am (AEST) on Friday.

But an hour later, they spotted the empty dinghy floating in Moreton Bay.

A search was launched for the man and they found a body floating in the water later in the afternoon.

It's believed the man fell overboard and drowned in the strong currents near the river mouth.

He has not yet been identified.
