A man is suffering burns to his hands and face after a fire broke out at a large factory containing gas cylinders in Melbourne's outer east.
About 90 Country Fire Authority and Metropolitan Fire Brigade firefighters brought the blaze under control on Canterbury Road at Kilsyth on Friday, after being called about 2pm.
The man, aged in his 50s, was taken to the Alfred hospital in a serious but stable condition, Ambulance Victoria told AAP.
Numerous gas cylinders could be seen stacked up at the business and people nearby report hearing loud explosions as the fire spread.
The state's environmental protection watchdog has sent officers to the site and will work with the CFA to assess hazards.
The is no immediate threat to the community, but a smoke warning has been issued and people are being told to avoid the area.
