A Queensland man has had his lip "bitten off" after being mauled by a dog south of Brisbane.

Paramedics were called to Warbler Street in Crestmead about 10pm on Monday and found the man, aged in his 40s, with the significant facial injuries, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.

His bleeding was controlled at the scene before he was taken to the Logan Community Hospital in a stable condition.

A Logan City Council spokesman said it was yet to receive a complaint, therefore officers were unable to investigate or take appropriate action.

"If the reports are accurate council strongly urges the alleged victim to make a statement," the spokesman said.
