Manufacturers declare war on cheap imports

Manufacturers are urging the Gillard government to crack down on the dumping of cheap Asian imports.

Bosses from seven of Australia's biggest manufacturing companies will use an industry summit in Sydney on Wednesday to ramp up their campaign for anti-dumping reform, The Australian reports.

Parliamentary secretary Mark Dreyfus says the government introduced a series of anti-dumping reforms last year.

"We're going to look at the results of those measures," he told Sky News.

Liberal MP Jaime Briggs said World Trade Organisation provisions existed to prevent dumping.

"There's actions available to the Australian government and companies," he said
