Australia's manufacturers are finishing 2015 on a positive note, with optimism about business conditions for the next six months hitting a six-year high.

The latest Westpac-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry survey of industrial trends shows that, while moderating in the December quarter, results remain above those of 2014 and the historical average.

"The considerable easing of monetary conditions, through lower interest rates and a lower dollar, is gaining traction and the manufacturing sector is a key beneficiary," Westpac senior economist Andrew Hanlan says.
