Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel's rookie National Football League season has continued to spiral downward as he suffered a hamstring injury against the Carolina Panthers.

The former Heisman Trophy winner left Sunday's contest after suffering the injury in the first half when he was hit hard by two Panther defenders as he dived for the sidelines in a 17-13 Carolina win.

Brian Hoyer, who Manziel replaced following a week 14 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, replaced Manziel at quarterback.

Manziel's struggles in his NFL debut last week were well documented, and he didn't fare much better on Sunday.

He completed just three-of-eight passes for 32 yards.
