Argentina soccer great Diego Maradona has announced that he will be the new ambassador of the Chinese Super League.

On his Instagram account, Maradona said "Thank you very much Ms. Tang Qinghui for this opportunity you are giving me to work in China, I will be eternally grateful!"

The Argentine wrote this caption in Spanish, Italian and English, and attached a photo of himself posing with his spokeswoman, Tang Qinghui, in China standing in front of a picture where he is carrying the 1986 World Cup trophy.

Maradona's lawyer Matias Morla confirmed that his client has signed a contract to promote Chinese soccer.

This announcement comes after Maradona recently stated that he will be working with FIFA to achieve a clean and transparent organisation to govern international soccer.
