Unfancied Central Coast have proved no frills and no marquee stars don't necessarily mean no thrills.
The Mariners delivered on their promise to entertain, with a 3-2 A-League opening round home win over Perth in Gosford on Saturday.
Written off by most of the pundits and without the finances to secure big name home or overseas players, the attack-minded Mariners fired 24 shots at Central Coast Stadium.
Two Diego Ferreira penalties in nine second-half minutes on Saturday earned the home team a win.
The Mariners scored three goals in only one game last season.
"I think when you make a bold statement for as long as I have about entertainment you have to back it up," Mariners coach Tony Walmsley said.
"At the end of the day it's not about me. I think the players needed under A-League pressure today to put a few things on the line that they maybe haven't been asked to do before and it's a really bold and brave thing for them go out there on match day one and deliver that type of performance."
Portuguese forward Ferreira was also involved in the Mariners' first goal, when his shot was pushed out by goalkeeper Ante Covic onto Irish striker and A-League debutant Roy O'Donovan, who knew little about it as the ball cannoned off him and into the goal from close range.
The Glory equalised in the 23rd minute with a fine stooping long-range header from captain Richard Garcia following a precise right wing cross from Chris Harrold.
Perth had a second minute attempt ruled out for offside and a couple of rash penalty area challenges cost them dearly.
New Dutch striker Guyon Fernandez fouled Ferreira who slammed the spot-kick high into the net.
He smashed the ball into a similar spot nine minutes later after Golec brought down Storm Roux.
"You've got a deflection and two penalties you're under the pump and that affects you a little bit," Glory coach Kenny Lowe said.
"It gives the other side momentum and belief. We didn't roll over, we hung in there and we tried to get something out of it but I guess we need to be a little bit better."
Mariners goalkeeper Liam Reddy produced three smart saves late on from Josh Risdon, substitute Sidnei Sciola and Diego Castro, before new Hungarian midfield import Gyorgy Sandor capped a late Glory surge with a stoppage-time goal.
"We got our teeth into it a little bit in the last 15, 20 minutes and created some opportunities and maybe if we'd pinched one earlier could have changed things a little bit, Lowe said.
The Mariners got good attacking value out wide from Ferreira on the right and another A-League debutant Mitch Austin on the left, with playmaker Anthony Caceres also prominent.
"For me, a marquee player has got to play really well to outdo Fabio, Caceres and Austin tonight, they were terrific going forward," Walmsley said.
