Maroons player ratings for Origin II

The Maroons were lacklustre in the game two loss against the Blues in Perth on Sunday.

1. Kalyn Ponga - The kid freak couldn't establish himself on the game; the Blues simply came with too much vigour that kept the boy wonder, simply that, a boy. 7

2. Corey Oates - Toiled had but couldn't get his hands on the footy and ran for just 114 metres. 7

3. Michael Morgan - The only Queensland player with a level head in attack but the Blues defence was equal to the challenge. 6.5

4. Will Chambers - Started the game with the psychological victory of getting Latrell Mitchell dropped, but the Roosters star failed to leave his mark. Scored the Maroons opener but went missing afterwards. 6

5. Dane Gagai - Played like he was wearing a Rabbitohs jersey. The match day program said he was out there but the search party are still out there. 4.5

6. Cameron Munster - Showed his hand but never had the players outside him willing to run the lines. Not his best game but let down by those around him. 7

7. Daly Cherry-Evans - The Maroons skipper worked hard but failed to ignite the Queensland attack. Cherry-Evans' career will be defined by game three. 6

8. Dylan Napa - The enforcer simply didn't play his role. Napa is in the team to intimidate and failed to scare the NSW pack. 5

9. Ben Hunt - Hardly noticed. Cameron Smith will need to come out of retirement to win game three for the Queenslanders. 3

10. Josh Papalii - Ran all night but couldn't leave his mark on the game. 6

11. Felise Kaufusi - The Melbourne big man was supposed to bully the Blues pack but ran for less than 100 metres. 5

12. Matt Gillett - Tackled like his life depended on it (47) and was probably the Maroons best forward. 8

13. Josh McGuire - The best defender next to Gillett. The duo were never given a chance in attack. 7

14. Moses Mbye - Hardly featured. 3

15. Jarrod Wallace - Made a bunch of tackles but otherwise unremarkable. 4

16. Tim Glasby - Solid hit-out off the bench. 6

17. David Fifita - Made 22 tackles and ran hard. 6.5
