Married stars tread separate Ashes paths

The hectic Australian cricket schedules mean husband and wife internationals Mitchell Starc and Alyssa Healy are unlikely to see each other play much.

Australian cricket's power couple Mitchell Starc and Alyssa Healy are resigned to seeing little of each other play this summer as they pursue separate Ashes paths.

The calendar clashes for the married couple started last Friday, when each played their first interstate one-day game of the campaign for their respective NSW sides at different Sydney venues.

Starc's first interstate assignment of the season could come within two weeks, if the Blues make the finals of the one-day competition in Hobart.

If they both remain fit, injury-free and in form, paceman Starc and batsman-wicketkeeper Healy could play important roles in their Australian teams.

The schedule means Healy's Ashes campaign will be over by the time Starc's starts.

The women begin their series in late October, around the time Starc and other Test aspirants will be gearing up for the opening round of the Sheffield Shield.

While the men's Ashes and their other international fixtures are being contested between November and February, Healy will be trekking around the country playing WNCL one-day and WBBL T20 games.

"It does make it difficult to get out to watch one another," Starc told AAP.

"I guess that was the silver lining to being injured for a while (earlier this year) was that I got the chance to support her in the World Cup in England and spend some time with her and support her cricket, there.

"It does get tough through the summer, when we're both playing and never really in the same place.

"I think with the way that the schedule is for the mens side I can hopefully get down to a few days of the (womens) Test match at North Sydney, which would be great to watch that.

"But aside from that I don't think there's too many days we're in the same place."
