Shaun Marsh batted like he had a point to prove in Perth Scorchers' record-breaking win on Wednesday night but he denies his eye-catching knock was a message to Australia Test selectors.
Marsh's innings of 76 from 54 balls was his first since he was squeezed out of the Australian Test XI to make way for Usman Khawaja despite his career-best innings of 182 in the first Test against West Indies in Hobart.
It was a timely reminder of the kind of stellar form that he's in but Marsh said that he wasn't motivated to try to prove Test selectors had erred in dropping him.
"Obviously I was a little bit disappointed but that's cricket - I've tried to move on as quickly as possible," Marsh said.
"Getting back with the Scorchers boys - it's a great environment to be around.

"I'm looking forward to the next few games with them and trying to build on what we achieved tonight."
Marsh combined with man of the match Michael Klinger (90 runs off 58 balls) in the largest partnership in Big Bash League history to run down Melbourne Renegades' target of 171 to record the first 10-wicket win since the BBL started.
"I don't know ... you try not to think about it too much," he replied when asked if he was in career-best form.
"You just worry about every game that comes your way and keep working hard on my preparation.
"Hopefully it continues - I'm really enjoying my cricket at the moment."
Marsh said that he had no trouble watching the Boxing Day Test where Khawaja was one of four century-makers and was happy that the team had scored a big win.
