Dustin Martin remains eligible to win the Brownlow Medal after avoiding suspension for striking Brisbane's Nick Robertson.

But the Tigers superstar must walk a tightrope for the remainder of the AFL season after the match review panel handed him two fines for separate incidents in Sunday's game against Brisbane.

A third low-level offence would trigger a one-game suspension, leaving the off-contract Martin ineligible to win his first Brownlow.

The MRP on Monday offered Martin a $1500 fine for hitting Robertson in the face, deeming the contact "unreasonable and unnecessary" but adding that it had been made with an open hand.

Martin was also offered a separate $1000 fine for rough conduct on Lewis Taylor.

Robertson, who niggled Martin throughout the Etihad Stadium clash, copped a $1500 fine for kneeing him in the back of the leg.

The Lions agitator can also accept a one-match ban for headbutting Tigers captain Trent Cotchin.

Martin's electrifying form has him neck-and-neck in the Brownlow race with last year's winner, Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield.

Only two players have polled the most Brownlow votes in a season while ineligible to win because of suspension - North Melbourne ruck-forward Corey McKernan in 1996 and Western Bulldogs forward Chris Grant the following year.

Jobe Watson was last year stripped of his 2012 Brownlow medal for his role in the Essendon supplements saga.

In other MRP news, Melbourne veteran Bernie Vince is facing a two-game suspension for elbowing Adelaide's Eddie Betts during Saturday night's game in Darwin.

The incident was classified as intentional conduct with low impact to the head, but the sanction was inflated by Vince's bad record, including a suspension earlier in the year.

The former Crow could opt to challenge the sanction at the tribunal but risks a three-game ban if he is unsuccessful.

Vince was also offered a $1000 fine for a head-high bump on former teammate Richard Douglas.

Crows skipper Taylor Walker can accept a $1000 fine for striking Jordan Lewis, as can Port Adelaide's Jackson Trengove for striking North Melbourne's Scott Thompson.
