The service took place in Ms Saldanha's home city of Bristol was attended by her family and friends.

Ms Saldanha's husband and her two children held prayers and lighted up candles to honour her memory.

Father Tom Finnegan asked the mass to put aside the media tensions over Ms Saldanha's death.

"I invite you all to please just put that to one side for one moment, to gather together as family, to gather together as friends, to gather together as colleagues, fellow students, to remember a loving mother, a loving wife, a loving neighbor, a dedicated and committed heath worker, caring for the sick, helping those in any need to get better."
