Matildas' China soccer tour to go ahead

The Matildas' camp and tour of China will go ahead, according to Professional Footballers Australia, with an an interim deal being accepted by players.

The Australian women's soccer team's upcoming camp and tour of China will go ahead, according to Professional Footballers Australia (PFA), with an an interim deal being accepted by the players.

PFA chief executive Adam Vivian said Matildas' players had agreed to undertake the tour following significant progress in negotiations but cautioned there was still to be a deal reached on a whole-of-game collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

"The Matildas' decision to undertake the tour is a gesture of good faith and is an acknowledgement of the progress that has been made," said Vivian.

"However, an agreement on a CBA to cover all Matildas, Socceroos and A-League players has not yet been finalised.

"There will be no agreement until all our members have been afforded the opportunity to have their say on the terms on offer.

"The PFA will continue to liaise with its members, however media statements suggesting that a deal is imminent are not helpful or accurate and will only delay the process," said Vivian.
