Lions legend Leigh Matthews won't help pick the man to succeed Justin Leppitsch as Brisbane's next AFL coach after the club finalised a five-person selection panel.

Chief executive Greg Swann will head the panel, which also includes Lions coaching director Peter Schwab, three-time premiership player Simon Black, psychologist Matti Clements and the club's soon-to-be-appointed general manager of football - widely expected to be current Adelaide football boss David Noble.

Leppitsch was sacked last month, the day after the Lions' final-round loss to St Kilda, despite having a year left to run on his contrast.
