Maxwell rule breach, out of one-day game

Glenn Maxwell has been left out of Victoria's one-day cup match against Tasmania in Sydney after missing a team recovery session.

Australian player Glenn Maxwell has been left out of Victoria's one-day cup match against Tasmania on Tuesday at North Sydney Oval after breaking team rules.

Maxwell missed a recovery session on Monday morning following the Bushrangers' win over cup leaders NSW.

Coach David Saker said it was disappointing.

"... Glenn let down his teammates and missed a recovery session this morning. We have high expectations of all our players and, as a senior player, Glenn should be taking a leadership role.

"As a result, he will not be playing in tomorrow's match against Tasmania," Saker said.

Maxwell said he understood that he broke team rules by missing recovery.

" ... I have accepted the consequences. It was an oversight on my behalf where I thought I had a free morning before some Australia team commitments.

"I'm extremely disappointed to be missing a game, but I will continue to do everything possible to help the Bushrangers win the Matador Cup," he said.

Maxwell will be available for Friday's elimination final should the Bushrangers qualify.
