Glenn Maxwell has reignited Victoria's one-day cup campaign, starring with bat and ball in their 36-run win over Western Australia at Blacktown International Sports Park on Monday.
After helping to dig the Bushrangers out of early trouble with a half century and post 8-225, the Australian allrounder claimed three wickets as the Warriors crumbled inside 47.2 overs.
Victorian spinner Jon Holland (3-36) took key wickets at the top of the order while Maxwell (3-30) helped clean up the tail as the Warriors were dismissed for 189 from 47.2 overs.
"Maxi's great to have in your team. He's a real match winner," Holland said.
"He can flick the switch whenever he wants and can change the game. To have Maxi in the team is a real confidence booster for everyone out there."
While Holland, John Hastings (3-33) and Dan Christian (60 from 66) were instrumental in helping the Victorians over the line, it was man-of-the-match Maxwell who starred in both innings.
After the Bushrangers won the toss and elected to bat, they found themselves in early trouble at 2-5 before Maxwell dug them out of a hole with a well-timed 51 from 57 as they posted 8-225.
After a lacklustre defeat to Queensland last week, the Bushrangers jumped into second with their second win from three matches and declared themselves the equal of undefeated table toppers NSW.
"I think we're a massive chance to win the tournament," Holland said.
"Our chances are as good as anyone's, especially with our batting, just about everyone has played or toured for Australia and we're really confident. If our boys fire, we'll be hard to beat."
Cameron Bancroft was the only Warriors batsman to make a real dent in the target before he was bowled around his legs by Holland while Ashton Agar (33) ensured the tail wagged.
Big guns Shaun Marsh (16), Mitchell Marsh (5), Adam Voges (27) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (10) all failed to fire as the Warriors' run chase petered out.
