Wests Tigers skipper Moses Mbye has declared he's a near certainty to return from injury during Sunday's NRL clash with the Warriors.

Mbye missed the Tigers' opening round win over Manly with a knee injury but on Thursday rated himself a "99 per cent" chance to take on the Warriors at Campbelltown Stadium.

A final call won't be made until Saturday's captain's run but said he was confident of getting on to the park for the first time this year.

"It looks like it, the knee's feeling really good," Mbye said when asked if he was playing.

"It was just a little bit underdone last week. I thought it was a better idea to miss that game.

"I was taking a bit of precaution, being round one. It's a long year.

"It just wasn't feeling 100 per cent and the game these days demands enough respect to play at 100 per cent. I don't think it's a good idea to go out there underdone."

Corey Thompson filled in admirably during last week's win over Manly but faces being cut upon Mbye's return.

The match will also mark Mbye's first game as skipper for the joint venture.

After just nine games for the club after his mid-year transfer to the joint venture in 2018, new coach Michael Maguire appointed him captain during the off-season.

"You run out first, it's nothing really different in terms of your role," Mbye said.

"I try to lead in whatever I do and it's not going to be any different this weekend."

Josh Reynolds will turn out for the Tigers' feeder side Western Suburbs in the NSW Cup in Sunday's curtain raiser.

After being restricted to just five games in his first year at the club in 2018, because of hamstring and shoulder injuries, he was overlooked in favour of Benji Marshall for a halves spot.

Mbye denied Reynolds was down on form, insisting he simply needed to get some extended time on the field.

"I don't think he needs to go back and get confidence," Mbye said.

"He's not out of form, he's just underdone. He hasn't played.

"Everything he's done in the pre-season has been top-class. Him and Benji - we didn't know which way (coach Michael Maguire) was going to go. They had 40 minutes each (in the trials) to get a spot, I thought they both played really well.

"I guess on the countback it went to Benji having played more games."
