Some extraordinary defiance from Ben McDermott has helped Tasmania see out a full day's play against Sheffield Shield leaders Victoria, with the draw pushing the Tigers into third on the standings.
Chasing a near-impossible 476 for victory, Tasmania staved off Victoria's final-day push at the Junction Oval to end at 5-197.
But it was McDermott's lack of scoring that really caught the eye.
McDermott, incredibly, almost went the entire final session without scoring a run.
Batting at No.5, McDermott ended the day unbeaten on 5 not out, having faced 98 balls for a strike-rate of 5.1
Resuming on 1 after tea, McDermott failed to trouble the scorers until the fourth last over of the session when he drove an over-pitched Scott Boland delivery to the boundary.
The extra point ended for the draw edges Tasmania ahead of Western Australia with two rounds remaining.
Victoria extend their lead over second-placed New South Wales to 5.85 points with the pair to meet in a pivotal match-up next week.
Thoughts of winning had long gone when McDermott arrived at the crease at 3-161, with just over a session remaining.
After a poor first innings showing on a decent batting wicket, Tasmania built a strong platform as Jordan Silk and Alex Doolan put on 112 for the opening wicket from 44.2 overs.
Silk (41 off 116 balls) was dismissed in the first over after lunch, while Doolan (88 off 204) helped push the score along to 160 before he was caught close to the wicket.
Matthew Wade, the Shield's second-highest run-scorer, suffered a rare failure, caught behind for one off paceman Andrew Fekete (2-44).
The final session yielded just 23 runs off 26 overs as Jake Doran (1 off 25) and Jarrod Freeman (4 not out off 27) joined in the go-slow.
The paucity was reflected in the bowling figures with spinner Holland conceding just 42 runs off 39 overs for the wickets of Doolan and Doran.
"They batted well in the end and negated Jon Holland which he was probably our key for today," said Victoria captain Travis Dean.
"We had all these plans in place but not many of them came off.
"(The pitch) didn't break up anywhere near as much as we thought it might."
