Craig McDermott will quit his role as Australian cricket's bowling coach after the Twenty20 World Cup in India.

McDermott says he wants to concentrate on expanding his cricket academies and pursue other business interests outside the sport.

"The time is right to really focus on my academy business which is continuing to grow," he said on Tuesday in a statement.

McDermott, who was appointed as Australia's bowling coach in October 2013, runs cricket academy centres in Queensland, NSW and Victoria and also acts as a coaching consultant around the world.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working for Cricket Australia," he said.
