McGuire ruled out of Broncos' Eels clash

Brisbane lock Josh McGuire has been ruled out of Thursday's NRL clash with Parramatta in a blow to his State of Origin chances.

Josh McGuire's State of Origin hopes have taken a hit after the Brisbane lock was ruled out of Thursday night's NRL game against Parramatta.

McGuire was desperate to make an early return from an ankle complaint after being named on extended bench for the Eels clash but failed to pass his fitness test on Wednesday.

McGuire was hoping to use the meeting with Parramatta to impress Maroons selectors before the Queensland team is named for the State of Origin series opener on June 6.

Jordan Kahu will return from a broken jaw for Brisbane, replacing Tom Opacic in the centres while George Fai slots in for Korbin Sims (broken jaw) on the bench.
