McKeon dominant at Queensland swim titles

Emma McKeon has won the 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly titles at the Queensland swimming titles in Brisbane.

Emma McKeon continued her hot form at the Queensland swimming championships on Sunday night, recording the third-fastest 200m freestyle time by a female this year on her way to claiming two gold medals.

McKeon, who won two golds at the Australian short-course championships last month, was at her dominant best at the Sleeman Aquatic Centre in Brisbane, winning both the 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly titles.

The 21-year-old led the freestyle final from the start, her 1:56.09 too quick for Bronte Barrett who finished 0.84 seconds behind in second and Swedish swimmer Michelle Coleman.

McKeon, who was born on the NSW south coast but is now settled in Queensland, recorded a time of 58.03s in the 100m butterfly, the fourth quickest by any female this year.

It was almost half-a-second quicker than her nearest competitor Maddie Groves.

McKeon will on Monday line up in the 100m freestyle heats against former world champion Cate Campbell, but without reigning world champion Bronte Campbell.

Bronte has been sidelined with hip inflammation which required a cortisone injection last week.

Cate, meanwhile, was forced to swim in Sunday night's B final of the 200m freestyle after she forgot to scratch herself from the event.

McKeon's brother, Dave, capped off a successful night for the family, winning bronze in the 200m freestyle won by Cameron McEvoy.
