Scott McLaughlin's Supercars career continues in high gear, with the rising star garnering his second Barry Sheene medal.

He received the gong for best and fairest driver at the end-of-season gala in Sydney on Monday night after securing third in the championship.

He finished behind fellow New Zealander Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup (both Holden) following Sunday's Sydney 500.

McLaughlin, 23, also won the medal in 2014.

He's raced for Garry Rogers Motorsport and is switching to DJR Team Penske in 2017.
