Meares, Glaezter win sprint cycling titles

Olympic champion Anna Meares and world No.1 Matt Glaetzer have won the sprint finals at the Australian track cycling championships in Adelaide.

Anna Meares has won her ninth Australian sprint title, edging out Stephanie Morton in Friday night's final in Adelaide.

Meares claimed her third consecutive national sprint crown by defeating Morton in the initial two races of the best-of-three final.

The reigning Olympic champion pipped Morton by a whisker in the first race and then banked a more-comfortable victory by about a wheel-length in the second to collect her 35th Australian title in elite and junior ranks.

In the men's sprint final, world No.1 Matt Glaetzer triumphed over Jacob Schmid to win his third national title in a row.

Like Meares, Glaetzer took out the initial two races in the final.
