Measles alert for Melbourne-bound flight

A measles alert has been issued for passengers aboard a Melbourne-bound flight from Dubai after a man was diagnosed with the infectious illness.

An Australian man was "extremely infectious" with measles while on board a Melbourne-bound flight from Dubai last week, with fellow passengers being warned to be alert for symptoms.

The man in his 30s became unwell on the Emirates EK404 flight that landed in Melbourne on January 11 after departing Dubai the day before.

"People who were at Melbourne Airport last Thursday, particularly around the international baggage collection area, who develop illness over the next week should alert their doctor or hospital emergency department," Chief Health Officer Dr Brett Sutton said on Wednesday.
