A case of measles has been identified south of Brisbane, with health authorities on the lookout for further cases as a result.
Queensland Health on Monday confirmed a child visited a number of locations in Brisbane and Logan over the last week while unknowingly infectious.
The child was on a Thai Airways flight from Delhi to Brisbane which arrived last Tuesday at Brisbane International Airport.
The child was also at the Logan Hospital emergency department late on Thursday night into Friday morning, before also travelling to Springwood Shopping Mall on Friday, May 25 between 2pm and 5pm
Dr Bhakti Vasant from Metro South Health said large numbers of people had been potentially exposed to the disease and anyone with concerns should contact their GP
"It is very important to call the medical practice first to say you could have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid spreading the disease to others," Dr Vasant said.
"If people are adequately vaccinated with two recorded doses of Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR) vaccine, they are very unlikely to get the disease."
Measles is one of the most infectious communicable diseases, spread through coughing and sneezing.
It causes fever, cough, runny nose and then the telltale red spotty rash, and can be a severe illness even in otherwise healthy children and adults.
