Measles warning for Perth and Melbourne

Health authorities have issued a measles warning for Perth and Melbourne after a traveller was diagnosed with the illness.

A measles warning has been issued in Perth and Melbourne after a man returning from overseas was diagnosed with the illness.

Victoria's acting chief health officer Brett Sutton said the man in his 20s may have been infectious while in and around the Southbank area and Melbourne Airport between February 4 and 7.

The man caught a Skybus from Southern Cross Station to Melbourne Airport, where he took a Virgin Australia flight to Perth.

The West Australian Health Department says people should remain vigilant for the onset of measles symptoms if they visited Perth Airport or Skakthidham Hindu Temple in Wangara between February 7 and 10.
