Media access to Nauru to inspect the immigration detention facility is a matter for Nauru, says Immigration Minister Peter Dutton.

Mr Dutton was responding to criticism in a Senate report that Nauru had jacked up its journalist visa fee from $200 to $8000 and its government had made it hard for reporters to access the immigration centre.

"It's an issue for the Nauruan government," Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday.
