The heads of Australia's major commercial and subscription media networks will gather in Canberra on Wednesday in a bid to pressure the parliament to speed up sector reforms.
Chief executives from TV, newspaper and radio companies, including News Corp, Fairfax Media, Foxtel, Seven West Media and Macquarie Media will hold a summit that will also be attended by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Communications Minister Mitch Fifield.
Earlier this month, the federal government announced a media reforms package that includes ownership rule changes, axing licence fees in exchange for a spectrum use fee and restrictions on gambling advertising, which it is negotiating with key Senate crossbenchers as well as Labor.
