Mel Gibson 'hates Jews': US screenwriter

A war of words has exploded in Hollywood, with Oscar-winning director Mel Gibson accused again of anti-Semitism -- this time by one of Hollywood's best- known screen writers: Joe Eszterhas.

Gibson was due to direct a film about a famous Jewish revolt called 'The Macabees'.

But Eszterhas has accused the Braveheart star of shelving the film "because he hates Jews".
