Melbourne man dead after being hit by cars

A man has died in hospital after a being struck by a car, then hit again by another as he lay on a Melbourne highway.

A 22-year-old man who was hit by two cars on a Melbourne highway has died in hospital.

The Seaford man was walking along the Frankston-Dandenong Road in the city's south in Bangholme when a car knocked him down about 3.30am on Saturday.

Police say another car stopped to help but was rear-ended by a third car, pushing it forward onto the man as he lay on the ground.

The man was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital where he later died.

The two occupants of the first car were also taken to hospital.
