A man rescued from a two-metre deep trench in Melbourne's north has been taken to hospital with multiple injuries.
It took fire crews an hour to free the man after he became trapped at Mernda after midday on Friday.
"He has injuries to his legs, pelvis and shoulder and has been taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital," an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman told AAP.
Crews from the CFA and MFB were involved in the rescue.
